The Grape

In Espinhal there are two grape varieties: Arinto and Avesso. Arinto, also known as Pedernã, is a variety of green wine that produces vibrant, refreshing wines with lively acidity and a strong mineral tendency. This variety favors hints of green apple, lime and lemon. Avessa is a very vigorous and rustic variety that produces wines with an intense, open straw color with greenish reflections and a mixed aroma of fruits (orange and peach), dried fruits (almond) and floral. Its character is subtle and complex, delicate and persistent. It is a variety that produces intense wines and works wonders when mixed with other varieties, adding volume, structure, concentration and enormous aging capacity. Its aromas are wild fruits, cocoa and olives.
